Overview
What is Shopify development?
Shopify development is designing, building and extending Shopify stores, from Online Store 2.0 themes and product pages to custom apps, checkout extensions and integrations with inventory, fulfilment and email tools. The goal is more revenue per visitor: fast pages, product information that answers objections and an app stack that doesn't slow the store down. Noorscale builds and tunes Shopify and Shopify Plus stores, and migrates catalogs from WooCommerce, Magento and BigCommerce with redirects in place.
See it in action
What does a Shopify store build look like when it's working?
When a Shopify store build is working, you see four changes: more orders from current traffic; bigger baskets without discounting; a faster store, smaller app bill; and rankings kept through migration. The live sample below is built with illustrative data. Your version runs on your own accounts and your numbers.

What problems does a Shopify store build solve?
A Shopify store build solves three common problems: “Our product pages get traffic but not sales”, “Apps are slowing the store down” and “We're afraid a move to Shopify will sink our rankings”. Each one has a fix.
The problem
- “Our product pages get traffic but not sales”Unclear delivery costs, buried reviews, weak photos and clumsy variant pickers lose shoppers at the moment they decide, especially on mobile.
- “Apps are slowing the store down”Each app can inject scripts on every page, and removed apps often leave code behind in the theme, dragging speed down long after you stopped paying.
- “We're afraid a move to Shopify will sink our rankings”Shopify uses fixed paths such as /products/ and /collections/, so moving from another platform without a complete redirect map can wipe out years of organic traffic.
What changes
- More orders from current trafficProduct pages that answer shoppers' questions convert more of the visitors you already pay to attract.
- Bigger baskets without discountingBundles, cart upsells and free-shipping prompts lift revenue per order without training customers to wait for a sale.
- A faster store, smaller app billCutting overlapping apps speeds up every page and removes monthly fees for tools you no longer need.
- Rankings kept through migrationComplete redirects and carried-over metadata protect the organic revenue you've already built.
Compare your options
Premium theme, freelancer or an agency for your Shopify store?
Each option suits a different situation: premium theme, set up in-house (a new store testing products); freelance developer (small, well-defined theme changes); and Noorscale (steady traffic that isn't converting). Here's how they compare on the points buyers ask about most.

What's included
What does a Shopify store build include?
A Shopify store build includes six deliverables: product pages built to convert, Online Store 2.0 theme, app audit and speed cleanup, cart and checkout improvements, migration with full redirects, and product structured data and feeds. Each one is working material your team can use, not a slide deck.

Product pages built to convert
Clear price, delivery and returns details, reviews near the decision, size or fit guidance and a sticky add-to-cart on mobile.
- 02
Online Store 2.0 theme

Process
How long does a Shopify store build take?
The work runs in four steps, starting in week 1 and continuing from week 11 onward. Every step ends with something you can use, so you always know what's landed and what comes next.
Time to first results: Launch in 6–12 weeks
Step 01Week 1
Store audit
Speed, apps, theme, analytics and search review, plus a walk through your funnel in Shopify Analytics and GA4.
You get: Store audit covering speed, apps and funnel
Step 02Weeks 2–4
UX and design
Designs for home, collection, product and cart, built around your bestsellers and the objections shoppers actually raise.
You get: Approved designs for home, collection, product and cart
Step 03Weeks 5–10
Build and migrate
Theme development, app setup, data migration and redirects on a development store, tested across devices and payment methods.
You get: Finished theme and migrated data on a development store
Step 04Week 11 onward
Launch and test
Go-live outside your peak season, tracking and redirect checks, then a backlog of product page and cart tests on an optional retainer.
You get: Live store and a backlog of product page tests
Reporting
How will you know a Shopify store build is working?
You'll know a Shopify store build is working from four measures on a live dashboard: conversion rate by device, add-to-cart rate, revenue per visitor and mobile store speed. You also get a written review every month: leading indicators first, then the numbers your finance team cares about.
Monthly reportSample
- Conversion rate by deviceHigher is better
Sessions to orders on mobile and desktop from Shopify Analytics and GA4, against the pre-launch baseline.
- Add-to-cart rateHigher is better
Product page sessions that add an item to cart, by template and traffic source.
- Revenue per visitorHigher is better
Revenue divided by sessions, so a change that lifts orders but shrinks basket size doesn't count as a win.
- Mobile store speedHigher is better
Field Core Web Vitals for home, collection and product templates, plus total app script weight.

FAQ
Questions about Shopify Development
Something else on your mind? Email grow@noorscale.com and a person will reply within one business day.
How much does Shopify development cost?
Shopify development is priced as a fixed fee from a written scope after a free call. The fee reflects whether we tune a premium theme or build a custom one, how many templates need work, and any migration or custom app. Shopify's subscription and app fees are billed to you directly.
How long does a migration to Shopify take?
Most migrations launch in 8–12 weeks, depending on catalog size, custom data and integrations. Moving products and orders is usually quick, while redirects, content and customer communication take the planning. We schedule go-live outside your peak sales periods.
When is a custom Shopify theme worth it over a premium theme?
A custom theme earns its cost when your products need layouts no theme supports or when theme bloat is hurting speed. For many brands, a premium theme from the Shopify Theme Store, tuned for speed and conversion, is the better spend. We recommend one after reviewing your catalog and conversion data.
Why is our Shopify store slow?
Usually it's the apps, not Shopify. Each app can add scripts to every page, and uninstalled apps often leave code in the theme. Oversized images, heavy sliders and too many fonts are the other common causes, and all of them can be fixed without changing platform.
Can you improve our product pages without a full redesign?
Yes, and it's often the fastest win. We rework the product template first: delivery and returns details, review placement, variant pickers, photos and a sticky add-to-cart on mobile. Changes go live on a duplicate theme, so you can preview them before customers see them.
Do we need Shopify Plus?
Most growing brands can start without it. Plus makes sense when you need deeper checkout customization, B2B features, several storefronts or high-volume automation. We'll show you what your current plan can and can't do before you upgrade.
Is Shopify good for SEO?
Yes, when it's set up properly. Shopify forces paths such as /products/ and /collections/, and many themes link to collection-based product URLs that rely on canonical tags. We clean up internal links, adjust robots.txt where needed and add complete Product markup, so search engines see one clear version of each product.
Do you build custom Shopify apps and integrations?
Yes, we build private apps and integrations with ERPs, 3PLs, subscription tools and Klaviyo on Shopify's Admin and Storefront APIs. Where an existing app does the job well, we'll recommend it instead of building from scratch.
Should we go headless with Shopify Hydrogen?
Hydrogen is worth it once the standard theme architecture is holding you back. Headless suits brands with complex content, several storefronts or a dedicated engineering team, and it adds build and maintenance cost. Most stores get faster and convert better with a well-built Online Store 2.0 theme.
