Overview

What is AI copilot development?

AI copilot development is building AI features into your own software so users can ask, draft, summarize, search and act in plain language without leaving the app. A good copilot works with the data and permissions the user already has and fits the screens they already use. It also needs product plumbing that a demo skips, such as usage metering, rate limits, guardrails, evaluations and cost control per account. Noorscale designs and builds these features inside your codebase, including MCP servers and tool integrations, and hands them over to your team.

  • Good fit: offer a call with a specialist
  • Later stage: send a resource, add to nurture
  • Discount, complaint or 'a person, please': a teammate joins

Sound familiar?

What problems does an AI copilot solve?

It solves the three problems teams raise most often on a first call, and each one has a fix.

The problem

  • “Our AI feature demoed well and nobody uses it”It sits in a separate chat tab, doesn't know what the user is looking at and can't do anything, so people try it once and go back to the old way.
  • “We can't predict what AI will cost per customer”Without metering and limits, a few heavy accounts can run up model bills that your pricing plans never accounted for.
  • “Every model update quietly breaks something”There's no test set, so a prompt tweak or a new model version changes outputs and support hears about it before engineering does.

What changes

  • AI features users come back toHelp shows up on the screen where the work happens, so it gets used daily instead of tried once.
  • Something new to sell on your plansMetered features can sit in higher tiers or add-ons, with cost per account known before you set the price.
  • Releases that don't break quietlyEvals run before every deploy, so a model or prompt change can't slip a regression past your team.
  • A feature your engineers ownCode, prompts, evals and docs live in your repository, ready for your team to extend.

What's included

What does an AI copilot include?

An AI copilot includes six deliverables, each one working material your team can use, not a slide deck.

Scope · AI Copilots for Your Product6 deliverables

  1. 01

    Feature map and success criteria

The jobs in your product where AI helps most, ranked by user value and effort, with what success looks like for each, agreed in writing before we build.

  2. 02

    In-app assistant and inline features

Assistants, drafting, summaries and natural-language search built into your existing screens and components, aware of the record the user has open.

  3. 03

    Actions through your own APIs

Plain-language commands that call your product's APIs with the signed-in user's permissions, with a confirm step before anything that changes data.

  4. 04

    MCP servers and tool integrations

An MCP server so your customers' own AI tools can work with your product safely, plus connections to the third-party tools your users rely on.

  5. 05

    Metering, limits and guardrails

Usage tracked per user and account, limits by plan, defenses against prompt injection, content filters and refusal rules matched to your product.

  6. 06

    Evals, monitoring and handover

A test set scored in CI before every release, traces and cost dashboards in production, and documentation so your engineers own what we built.

Process

How long does an AI copilot take?

The work runs in five steps, starting in weeks 1 to 2 and then running as ongoing work. Every step ends with something you can use, so you always know what's landed and what comes next.

Timeline: Customer beta in 6 to 10 weeks

  1. Step 01Weeks 1 to 2

    Pick the first feature

We review your product, usage data and support tickets, pick one feature with clear user value and write its success criteria.

You get: First feature picked, success criteria written

  2. Step 02Weeks 2 to 4

    Prototype inside your app

A working version ships behind a feature flag in your codebase, tested by internal users against a first eval set.

You get: Working prototype behind a feature flag

  3. Step 03Weeks 4 to 7

    Harden for production

We add metering, limits, guardrails, logging and fallbacks, and grow the eval set from real usage.

You get: Metering, limits, guardrails and a growing eval set

  4. Step 04Weeks 7 to 10

    Beta and release

A group of customers gets access while we watch adoption, quality and cost, then we roll out by plan or segment.

You get: Feature rolled out by plan or segment

  5. Step 05Ongoing

    Iterate and hand over

Monthly reviews of usage, failures and spend, new features from the backlog, and pairing with your engineers.

You get: Monthly usage, quality and cost review

Reporting

How will you know an AI copilot is working?

You'll see it in four numbers on a live dashboard, with a written review every month. Leading indicators come first, then the numbers your finance team cares about.

Monthly reportSample

Feature adoptionHigher is better

Share of active users who use the AI feature each week, and whether they keep coming back to it.

Task completionHigher is better

How often users accept a draft, run a suggested action or finish the task without heavy edits.

Eval pass rateHigher is better

Score on the test suite before every release, so quality changes are caught before customers see them.

Cost per active userLower is better

Model and hosting cost per user and account, set against what each plan earns.

FAQ

Questions about AI Copilots for Your Product

Something else on your mind? Email grow@noorscale.com and a person will reply within one business day.

How much does it cost to add AI to our product?

Cost depends on how many features you want, whether the AI only reads data or also takes actions, how complex your permission model is and how much traffic it must handle. An older or lightly documented codebase adds time. Model usage is billed to your own accounts, and we estimate it per user before launch. You'll get a fixed written scope after a free call.

Will it work inside our existing codebase and design system?

Yes, we build in your repository, follow your conventions and use your components, so the feature looks and behaves like the rest of the product. Everything ships behind feature flags, and your engineers review every pull request.

How do you control AI costs per customer?

We meter tokens and requests per user and account, set limits by plan, cache repeated work and route simple tasks to cheaper models. Dashboards show cost per account next to revenue, so you can price AI features from real usage instead of guesses.

Can the copilot take actions, or only answer questions?

It can take actions, through your product's own APIs and with the signed-in user's permissions, so it can't do anything that user couldn't. Actions that change or delete data show a confirmation first. Every action is logged.

What is an MCP server, and do we need one?

An MCP server is a standard connector that lets AI assistants, such as Claude or ChatGPT, read from and act on your product with permission. You need one if your customers want to use their own AI tools with your product, or if your copilot should reach several tools the same way. We build it with authentication, scoped permissions and logging.

Is our customers' data used to train AI models?

Your customers' data stays out of model training. We use business API terms under which providers don't train on your inputs or outputs, and each customer's data stays separated. If your contracts require it, the model can run in your own cloud instead.

How long until we can ship something?

A first feature usually reaches internal users in 2 to 4 weeks and a customer beta in 6 to 10 weeks. Actions, complex permissions or heavy traffic push that out. We release by segment and widen access as quality and cost hold.

What do you need from us?

Repository and staging access, a product owner who can make decisions each week, and usage or support data that shows where users struggle. An engineer from your team pairing with us makes the handover far easier.
