Overview

What is mobile app development?

Mobile app development is designing, building and publishing apps for iOS and Android, from screens and code to the back end, store submission and updates. A cross-platform framework such as React Native or Flutter lets one codebase serve both stores, which keeps cost down and features in step. Noorscale builds that way, designs onboarding around the user's first win, and launches with crash reporting, retention analytics and store listings written for app store search.

See it in action

What does a mobile app build look like when it's working?

When a mobile app build is working, you see four changes: both stores from one build, more installs become regulars, fewer store review delays and a roadmap backed by usage. The live sample below is built with illustrative data. Your version runs on your own accounts and your numbers.

What problems does a mobile app build solve?

A mobile app build solves three common problems: “Two native builds would blow the budget”, “People install the app, then never open it again”, and “Our app got rejected and we don't know why”. Each one has a fix.

The problem

  • “Two native builds would blow the budget”Separate Swift and Kotlin codebases double the cost of every feature. Most business apps don't need that, and one shared codebase keeps both platforms in step.
  • “People install the app, then never open it again”Long sign-up forms, permission prompts on the first screen and no clear first win send new users back to the home screen for good.
  • “Our app got rejected and we don't know why”Missing privacy details, no in-app account deletion, broken sign-in for reviewers and placeholder content all trigger rejections. Each one costs days you planned for launch.

What changes

  • Both stores from one buildOne codebase ships to iPhone and Android, so every feature is paid for once and launches on both together.
  • More installs become regularsOnboarding built around a quick first win and well-timed prompts stops new users from drifting away in week one.
  • Fewer store review delaysPrivacy labels, account deletion and reviewer access are built in from the start, so review doesn't push back your launch.
  • A roadmap backed by usageRetention and funnel analytics show which features people use, so releases follow behavior instead of opinions.

Compare your options

Mobile website, two native apps or one cross-platform app?

Each option suits a different situation: fast mobile website (occasional visits, basic features only), separate native apps (graphics-heavy or platform-only features) and cross-platform app by Noorscale (users return often on both platforms). Here's how they compare on the points buyers ask about most.

What's included

What does a mobile app build include?

A mobile app build includes six deliverables: onboarding and core flows; cross-platform app build; back end, sign-in and push; analytics and crash reporting; store launch package; and store listing and ratings prompt. Each one is working material your team can use, not a slide deck.

Scope · Mobile App Development6 deliverables

  1. 01

    Onboarding and core flows

Screens designed to get a new user to their first win fast, with permission requests timed to the moment they make sense.

  2. 02

    Cross-platform app build

React Native with Expo, or Flutter, sharing one codebase across iOS and Android, with native modules only where a feature needs them.

  3. 03

    Back end, sign-in and push

Accounts, data storage and push notifications on Firebase, Supabase or a custom API, sized for how your product needs to grow.

  4. 04

    Analytics and crash reporting

Events for sign-up, key actions and retention, plus crash reporting from the very first beta build.

  5. 05

    Store launch package

Developer accounts in your name, privacy labels, the Google Play data safety form, beta testing tracks and support through review.

  6. 06

    Store listing and ratings prompt

Keyword-aware title, subtitle, screenshots and description, plus an in-app ratings prompt timed after a good moment.

Process

How long does a mobile app build take?

The work runs in four steps, starting in weeks 1–2 and continuing from week 17 onward. Every step ends with something you can use, so you always know what's landed and what comes next.

Time to first results: Store launch in 12–20 weeks

  1. Step 01Weeks 1–2

    Discovery and scope

We define users, core flows and device features such as push, payments or offline mode, then choose React Native or Flutter in writing.

You get: Written scope and React Native or Flutter choice

  2. Step 02Weeks 3–5

    Design and prototype

Designs and a clickable prototype tested with real users before the build budget is committed.

You get: Designs and a prototype tested with real users

  3. Step 03Weeks 6–16

    Build and beta

Sprints with new builds on TestFlight and Google Play internal testing every two weeks, so you test on your own phone.

You get: A new beta build on your phone every two weeks

  4. Step 04Week 17 onward

    Launch and grow

Store submission, launch monitoring and fixes, then optional support for OS updates, new features and retention work.

You get: App live on the App Store and Google Play

Reporting

How will you know a mobile app build is working?

You'll know a mobile app build is working from four measures on a live dashboard: day 1, 7 and 30 retention; onboarding completion; crash-free sessions; and store page conversion. You also get a written review every month: leading indicators first, then the numbers your finance team cares about.

Monthly reportSample

Day 1, 7 and 30 retentionHigher is better

Cohort retention from product analytics, showing whether people come back after they install.

Onboarding completionHigher is better

Share of new installs that finish onboarding and reach the first key action, step by step.

Crash-free sessionsHigher is better

Share of sessions without a crash from Crashlytics or Sentry, reviewed after every release.

Store page conversionHigher is better

Store listing views to installs in App Store Connect and Google Play Console.

FAQ

Questions about Mobile App Development

Something else on your mind? Email grow@noorscale.com and a person will reply within one business day.

How much does it cost to build a mobile app?

A mobile app is priced in fixed-fee phases from a written scope, starting with design and a prototype. The fee reflects the number of screens, whether the app needs payments, real-time features or offline sync, and how complex the back end is. Apple and Google developer accounts and third-party services are billed to you directly.

How long does it take to launch an app?

Most first versions reach the stores in 12–20 weeks. Review is usually quick, but a rejection can add days, so store requirements are built into the plan instead of discovered at submission.

React Native or Flutter: which is better for our app?

Neither wins everywhere. React Native suits teams already working in React and TypeScript and lets you share logic with a web app. Flutter gives very consistent UI across platforms and handles animation-heavy interfaces well. We recommend one based on your team, existing code and roadmap.

Is a cross-platform app as good as a native one?

Yes, for most business apps. React Native and Flutter render real native interfaces and can reach any device feature through native modules. Fully native development makes sense for graphics-heavy apps or ones built around the newest platform-only features.

When is a mobile website enough instead of an app?

A fast mobile website is enough when people visit occasionally and don't need device features, and we'll tell you so. An app earns its cost when users return often, need push notifications, offline access or the camera, or expect to find you in the app stores.

How do you get people to keep using the app after they install it?

We design onboarding around one quick first win, ask for permissions only when they make sense and use push notifications sparingly, for things users asked for. Retention analytics then show where people drop off, so each release fixes the biggest leak first.

Will you publish the app to the App Store and Google Play?

Yes, we handle submission end to end. Developer accounts are set up in your name, and we prepare privacy labels, the Google Play data safety form, screenshots and listing copy, then support the app through review.

Can the app share a back end with our website or web app?

Yes, and it usually should. The app can use the same API, accounts and database as your web product, so customers see the same data everywhere. With React Native, some business logic can also be shared between web and mobile code.

What happens when Apple or Google release a new OS version?

We test against beta OS releases before they ship, update dependencies and fix anything that breaks. Support plans cover these yearly updates along with security patches and small improvements, so the app keeps working without emergency projects.
